BIG STONEY
Big Stoney encompasses areas along U.S. 278 (William Hilton Parkway) from the causeway at Jenkins Island to Spanish Wells Road.
In the early to mid-1900s, Big Stoney was once considered to be Hilton Head Island's downtown area due to the number of entrepreneurs and businesses.
The community was populated with community stores, the Island's post office, the first consolidated elementary school and other businesses.
Big Stoney is considered as the gateway to Hilton Head Island because the Island's main thoroughfare comes through this native Islander community.
LITTLE STONEY
Little Stoney is boarded by Skull Creek and situated between Big Stoney and the Squire Pope Community.
It consists of homes and families along Squire Pope Road.
Little Stoney thrived from nearby businesses in Big Stoney and other businesses that area families of fisherman, netmakers and other vocations established.
